Autumn 2021 Update

We continue to expand into the private sector of deer management and several new clients have taken on our services throughout Scotland. Contracts both large and small have been secured this year and it’s a pleasure to be able to assist our clients in achieving the results they require to allow them to move forward with their woodlands and land management objectives. We look forward to taking on new clients and always free to have a relaxed and confidential conversation to discuss your deer maters.

Muckrach Forest

We are pleased to have been appointed by Savills as their chosen deer managers for this very exciting project. This amazing project will result in one of the largest of its kind. This will be a naturalistic forest with a mixture of native Scots Pine and broadleaf trees and will provide an unsurpassed environment for all species off wildlife and huge benefits to the community. We have been involved right at the beginning to reduce deer numbers to allow the already present natural regeneration to thrive and expand and will provide our services throughout the project and look forward to seeing this future forest flourish and expand.

Pitgaveny Estate

In March this year we were taken on as their deer managers for this lovely low ground estate. We work closely with the owner, and his estate management team and tennant farmers on a daily basis. Over the course of the season we have undertaken a management cull and the results are already clear to see with a great reduction in woodland damage and an increase in natural regeneration. We have reduced the agricultural damage and it’s very satisfying to get complimentary feedback from the estate. There is a high usage by the general public and they have been very positive regarding what we are doing and myself and my team always take time to talk to them and explain why the culling is taking place.

Argo hire

We have had several Argo hires this summer the most recent being brought in for the day to provide Argo cat Support for Angus Mackie of SCOTLAND 360. Angus has been undertaking the survey of the Muckrach moor, soon to become the Muckrach forest, by drone and also static photos. I spent a fantastic day with him ! Watching his drone skills was amazing and the footage is second to none . By providing the Argo cat he was able to take a large amount of additional equipment and additional drones and make for a very productive day. I look forward to working with Angus on other future projects in the comming years.

We have been commissioned by IDM Safety Solutions to assist them in laying a 3000 metre cable at the Kincraig Highland Wildlife Park. This is going to be an interesting challenge for all concerned but I’m sure it will be successfully achieved. I have concluded a site visit with the owner of the company undertaking this work. Just waiting for a date for this to start.
